JEE 2019: All you need to know about it.
Created on: September 12, 2018
The Indian education was solely based on rote learning and every year students are put through uninspired, meticulous examination model with little aim. However, as NTA gets involved, it looks like we will witness a massive change in the examination landscape. Their decision to adopt artificial intelligence, adaptive testing, and psychometric analysis, will only help us to achieve an educated workforce.
The JEE Main examination will now be conducted twice in an academic year from 2019. There is no offline mode to take the JEE Main 2019, and everything is computer based.
Let’s look at all changes announced for JEE Mains under NTA’s supervision:
- A Student can appear for both the JEE Main 2019 exams or just once, as per their wish. In case the candidate decides to take both the exams, the score of the best one will be counted.
- JEE Main will be conducted twice in a year – in January and April.
- The exams will be held over a period of 4-5 days, and students can choose their and slots.
- The exams will be online.
Mode of exam:
From the next year, questions for competitive exams like JEE will be set and administered with the help of technology. The NTA will enable question setters to come up with a bank of millions of questions of varying difficulty.
Past question papers will be analyzed to check the questions implication in future. All previous questions will be screened through extensive psychometric testing, to test their level of difficulty. Each option in the multiple choice questions will be twisted to trick the applicant and filter out those students who have rotely learned, instead of understanding the concepts. Thus, emerges a better method of testing, which will give each participant a unique question paper.
Questions will be administered with the help of adaptive testing, wherein, the difficulty level of each new question will depend on the previous question. The applicants will be able to revisit the questions. Also, now the applicants have the choice to choose one date out of a given set of options, ensuring some flexibility! The National Testing Agency will conduct JEE Main in 8 slots. So, students have to book their slots as quickly as possible.
Syllabus and Exam pattern:
CBSE and state boards have quite a different set of the syllabus. Keeping it in mind, it is expected that there will be a slight change in the JEE Main 2019 syllabus to bring all candidates under the same umbrella.
